~* the GOLDEN years aren't so golden! *~

My mother-in-law has said this to me many times.

Sadly, she recently suffered a heart attack that was soon followed by a stroke. She is still recovering in the hospital almost 3 weeks later. Meanwhile, my father-in-law is back in the hospital too having a very rough go of it these past few months.

It's hard being far away and helpless, especially for my husband. My kids and I are going to send some art to her to help brighten her spirits. I wanted something to show her our love, so I grabbed this wall hanging I had previously designed for AKOTC and remade it adding a recent photo of the kids. I also added some gold accents which seemed fitting. My kids are working on their creations now and putting lots of heart into theirs too!

Hopefully they both will be able to go back home very soon.....xOxO

I love this Domestic Goddess album. It was designed by Laura McCollough a few years ago, before A Kiss on the Chic was created. When I first saw this album on Laura's website, I e-mailed her right away asking if she sold this as a kit.I was so excited that she was able to put one together for me. I added a little of my own "pizazz" to make it personal, but this was the "spark" that led me to Laura and ignited my "public" designing! It's definitely very special, not only because of how pink & pretty it is, but the meaning it holds! xOxO

I remember this day. It was five years ago! How quickly the years go by! I have to rave here about Keep in Touch. Kelly puts together some SUPER amazing kits.

I swear, every time I get a box from her, I race upstairs to my studio and have this urge to create something right away. This layout is from her Sassitude kit!

Her kits are LOADED with pretty embellishments which I am mad for! And layouts seem to come together so quickly! I am honored to be guest designing for Kelly and Keep in Touch this August, so check out Kelly's kits.

Saying I'm addicted to Tarina Tarantino jewelry, as you can see by my collection above, is an understatement. This new 'city girl' ring just came out and she'll be on my finger soon! (Look, she even has my funky hair!) Tarina has a 20% off special this weekend, that doesn't come along too often! I can never pass up a sale, especially with her designs! Tarina always inpires me to follow my passion of designing. I even created a premade scrapbook for her a few years ago in appreciation. There is a lot of inspiration on her website. I found this cute ebay shop: Vintage Millinery Flowers Shop last night and bought a few things including these sweet chicks and colorful satin leaves. I'm always searching for something different to use on my designs. And if it's vintage, all the better!

This store has hundreds of millinery items including a huge selection of flowers, vintage ads & brochures, maps, railroad papers and more! If vintage is your thing , check this store out!

~* tEaCherS aRe hEroEs! *~

I can't believe this year school year is almost over! Some of you may not know that I homeschool my 11 year old son, Kyle- this was the first (and last) year of doing that due to a bad experience in the school system last year. But he and I BOTH are ready for him to go BACK to school in the Fall! My little one, Ava, in Kindergarten however has had an amazing year and a teacher that we adore! I'm so sad this year is ending! I don't want to lose this teacher!!! My GF is the room mom in Ava's class and she had the kids write and illustrate how their teacher is their hero. Here is Ava's page:

She put all of Ava's classmates' artwork in a white binder and this is what I worked on all day yesterday:

We depend so much on teachers for that educational guidance. Homeschooling is a great option, it's just not for us! And I think I've learned to appreciate teachers even more this year after I attempted to play that role! So to all the teachers out there, a huge Thank You!! You are Heroes! (especially in my book!!!)

I am in football withdrawal now, impatiently waiting for the NFL season to begin.

SO thinking about my 49ers, I found this picture which was taken by my husband unknowingly on Christmas Eve in Boston 2006. The 49ers were playing the Cardinals and San Francisco was getting beat pretty badly. People are used to seeing my face like this when my team plays. But I have hope for my team this year and maybe I can actually get a picture smiling during a game for a change!

~* sparKly giFt boXes! *~

If you have a pile of jewelry gift boxes lying around like I always seem to (shopaholic!) and you feel like getting creative, here's a way to add some sparKle to your gift giving!

Grab a huge handful of rhinestones. The ones I used aren't my fancy ones, but rather the bulk ones from Oriental Trading Company. They work and sparkle just as nice. I arranged them on the box first. When I had them how I wanted them, I used my glue gun very CAREFULLY and applied each one. Use the glue sparingly and keep a glass of water nearby for your fingers just in case! Make sure no one is around as bad words may emerge as you burn yourself numerous times! You can add some stickles in the gaps for even more sparKle! YES this is a major test of patience which I seriously lack! But I love the boxes and anyone who receives one of these treasures will too!

So my past punch art has not only brought about a couple of layouts recently, but really had me thinking about my old ebay selling days which included one very special lady who sold her beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations at the same time as I did, and that is the ultra talented Missy of Missy Made It! Yesterday, I searched the internet for her and I was so happy to find her blog and happy to see she still is selling the cutest creations ever on ebay! How great is was to connect with her again~ almost makes me want to sell again Missy! But you are the true QUEEN of punch art my dear friend!!!
